Whuppity Scorie
Day of Noise Making
to drive away Evil

The annual Bathing of the Men and Shaving of the Widows takes place during Whuppity Scorie, when the weather is warm enough to entertain the thought of getting wet.  The tumult caused by the two rituals was thought to drive off evil.

The antecedents of the Bathing of the Men are rooted in the Great Fire of London, a conflagration started by one of the Clan MacThoy.

In the interest of self- preservation, the tribe resolved to wash the men once a year in the hopes of preventing this disaster from happening again.
